The Hotel (so named) was once the best hostelry in the days when Church Stretton was attracting visitors wishing to enjoy the town's spa and holiday facilities of what the publicity notices described as "Little Switzerland". After suffering a catastrophic fire in 1968, the hotel closed and the building has been converted to other commercial occupation.
